We have a real mixed bag this morning. Yesterday morning we received about 8 cm of new snow, but that was followed by several hours of freezing rain and some plain rain. So there is an ice crust on top of the new snow, and some of the rain penetrated down through the snow and still sits there as unfrozen water at ground level. On top of it all, we have 2 cm of new snow this morning and it is still snowing lightly. The trees are all coated in ice and snow, so it is rather pretty.
As for skiing, I've just been out and it is skiable as it stands right now. I will be out with the groomer after breakfast to see if I can crush the ice crust and leave a compressed area where more new snow will collect. Stay tuned.
Keep us posted Dave, it's been snowing all am and hope to get out in a few hrs if it's skiable.
ReplyDeleteHi Lilla. It is skiable and quite enjoyable. Just watch out for wet spots and low hanging branches.
ReplyDeleteNo props, I'm short!
