A change in the weather brings a change in ski conditions. The temperature did go a little above 0 yesterday afternoon for a short time. I don't think we lost any snow, but the character of the snow changed; it's now a bit less powdery, and more granular.
Then last night we had some strong winds, causing snow to drift into the groomed tracks.
Right now, it's a half degree above 0 and snowing lightly. The snowfall is forecast to continue until about 3 p.m. and the temperature will start to drop during the morning. By afternoon, we should be below 0 again.
So, ski conditions are not as good today as they have been over the past few days. Depending on temperature and moisture content, the new snow today may be sticky and unpredictable. After today, we are looking at a long period of quite cold weather.
The trails were wonderful today. The temp must have dropped quickly because they were super fast and hard underfoot ( underski?).As a perennially directionally challenged sort I really appreciate the excellent signage here. Thanks for all you do!
