Saturday Feb. 11 - we catch a break!

The weather has turned out not as bad as predicted. Yesterday afternoon and evening, we received about 5 cm of new snow. The temperature was supposed to rise to 0 by morning, but it is now sitting at -5, and the new predicted high for today is only +2. So, we might get through today without a massive melt or transformation from snow to ice. Tomorrow's forecast now calls for up to 10 cm of new snow, so if that happens, we should be in pretty good shape.
MID MORNING UPDATE: I have groomed most trails with roller and comb. Hopefully this will smooth out the rough spots, help hold snow in place when the wind blows, and provide a good base for tomorrow's snowfall. As I write this, at 10:40 a.m. the temperature is sitting just below 0.
At the moment, we have tolerable ski conditions on yesterday's snow.
